NAKASEKE–KIBOGA CONFERENCE REPORT 5TH 13TH JUNE 2019

The 85th and 86TH ALIM Pastors and leaders conference was held in Nakaseke and Kiboga towns in central Uganda. In Nakaseke, the conference was held at Christian Care church Hall from 5th June to the 8th of June 2019 and in Kiboga from10th to 13th June 2019. The conference delegates’ attendance in Nakaseke was 450 and that of Kiboga 779.

The conference started by the exposition of the conference theme Hosea 4:6—“My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. The teaching focused on messages considered as the foundations of Christian walk such as “walking in the fear of the Lord and walking in integrity” The teachings aimed at bringing knowledge to God’s people to enable them enjoy an abundant filled life as Christ intended.

  1. CONFERENCE DETAILS

The conferences were both residential for participants from far and could not easily get back home. Participants who live within the community commuted from their homes. The resident participants in Nakaseke were 195 and 568 in Kiboga. ALIM provided all the 3 major meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) to the conference participants through catering service providers procured by local pastors.

EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHINGS
In response to the teaching on baptism of the Holy Spirit, over 350 delegates were baptized in the Holy Spirit during the conference in Nakaseke and 500 in Kiboga. During baptism, men and women spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. In his massage “Baptism in the Holy Spirit”, Pastor Ernest explained that speaking in different tongues is a sign that a believer has been equipped to do everything that Jesus did. ”

The illustration above depicted the desire of God to fill every believer with a full measure of His presence and the flow of the Holy Spirit. However, many lives are full of rubbish that needs to be thrown out by a believer in order to create room for God to do that.

In response to the message on marriage as God intended, 11 couples were wedded in the sight of God during the conference in Nakaseke and 24 couples in Kiboga. The pastoral leadership in both towns was then encouraged to follow the same example by wedding people in simplicity as demonstrated during the conference. If this practice of wedding people in simplicity is fully embraced, it will reduce the number of people in church living together without being wedded. In both conferences many of the leaders in attendance confessed that they were living with a partner whom they have not wedded with. During the ministry of the word, Pastor Ernest said that it is such practices among the believers that are weakening the effectiveness of the Church. Because of the importance of the institution of marriage, the message of “Marriage as God intended” was recorded and broadcast on radio in Nakaseke. The participants were encouraged to buy a booklet for further reference to the messages that were taught during the conference. During the conference, 463 booklets were sold (199 in Nakaseke and 263 in Kiboga) at a subsidized price of Ugx 3000.

HOLY COMMUNION The teaching on the sacrament of Holy Communion signified the importance of the church as one with a mission and purpose to bring glory to God. The cup signifies blood for the forgiveness of sins of all mankind and the bread represents the body of Jesus Christ; a symbol of health and wholeness for all believers. …. “By His stripes, we are healed”….Isaiah 53:4-5. The message of communion was appropriate because the ALIM team through a discussion with the pastors discovered that many church congregations in both towns were not celebrating communion. Many reasons where given to justify why communion was not being celebrated, but the one that was prominent among all the rest was lack of knowledge on how to conduct communion. After the message and the celebration of communion, many leaders resolved to carry on with the sacrament of communion in remembrance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a reminder of His return.

Communion was celebrated after the Message during the conference

During the conference, a message was given on giving as an act of worship as well as a waythrough which God blesses his children as opposed to receiving. .

    COMMUNITY SERVICE
The message on community service was taught as a means to encourage the church to go and get involved in the communities where God has placed them in a more practical way. Community service in its current state is believed to be one of  the most effective ways of evangelism. By sharing what you have with those who do not have gives an opportunity for the giver to share the love of Jesus with the receiver. As a demonstration, money was collected during the conference and the proceedings were used to buy food and non-food items and they where taken to the hospital and the prisons. During the visit of the conference team to Nakaseke Hospital, 5 people received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

During the conference, an opportunity was given to those who were not born again to do so and 3 peoples gave their lives to Jesus. After a prayer of repentance, these new believers were tagged to Pastors within their locality.

6.0 TESTIMONIES
On Sunday the 16th of June 2019, the ALIM team received a call from Pastor John Asaph of Kiboga with good news that 5 couples who were living together and not wedded had their marriages sanctified. This was done in simplicity just like it was taught and demonstrated during the conference. In June 2017, a couple in their 80’s had their marriage sanctified in the town of Bukomero and now at the age of 83 and her husband at 85, they are happily living full of the joy of the Lord. The lady gave a testimony during the conference.

The ALIM team would like to extend appreciation to everyone who contributed to make the ministry in Nakaseke and Kiboga successful. God bless you all.
