KIRYANDONGO-APAC CONFERENCE REPORT 6TH -14TH JUNE 2018

The 78th and 79th ALIM Pastors and leaders conference was held in Kiryandongo in Bunyoro Sub-Region, Western Uganda and Apac district in Northern Uganda respectively. In Kiryandongo, the conference was held at Triumphant Christian Embassy Church in Kigumba from 6th to 9th June 2018 and the one in Apac from 11th to 14th June 2018. The conference delegates’ attendance in Kiryandongo was 500 and that of Apac was 660.

The ALIM team was composed of Pastor Ernest Howie, the team leader and teacher, John Faith, a co-teacher, Samuel Sombi the Missions/conferences Coordinator, Godfrey Kalungi the Praise and worship leader, Lawrence the keyboard player and Emmanuel in charge of order management during the conferences. The conferences were opened with the fundamental topics such as “the fear of the Lord and Integrity” which act as a foundation for ALIM conferences. The teachings pointed to the main theme of the conference; Hosea 4:6—“My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge”; Mal.2:7—“For the lips of a Priest should keep knowledge, and People should seek the law from his mouth; for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts”; Ps. 25:4-5—“Show Me your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths, lead me in your truth and teach me”; Ps. 43:3—Oh send out your light and your Truth! Let them lead me: let them bring me to your holy hill and to your tabernacle.

  1. CONFERENCE DETAILS

The conferences were both residential for participants from far towns and rural areas. Those who live nearby were non-residents. The resident participants in Kiryandongo were 280 and 308 in Apac.  The residents arrived a day prior to the conference so as to settle down in preparation for an early conference start the following day. ALIM provided all the 3 major meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) to the conference participants through catering services procured by local pastors.

EFFECTIVENESS OF THE TEACHINGS
The teachings were received with joy and gladness in both towns.  Many participants made a public confession that the teachings in the conference were unique and more importantly Bible based.  One of the pastors in Kiryandongo on the last day of the conference commented, “You cannot fault anything in these teachings of Abundant Life since every single statement is backed with a scripture” In a separate occasion, one of the leaders in Apac said “this is the gospel we would like to hear, we are tired of prosperity gospel preachers

In response to the teaching on baptism of the Holy Spirit, over 400 delegates were baptized in the Holy Spirit. The experience was hilarious as God took charge of the situation as men and women spoke in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.   This being the first day of the conference, this experience released a supernatural freedom and the hunger for the word among the participants, particularly in Apac for the rest of the 4 days of conference. At the end of the conference, the participants testified of how much they are blessed by the teachings and as a result, the leadership requested Pastor Ernest and the team to make the event annual. In response, Pastor Ernest said that he and the team will be happy to come back to the two towns provided that the church puts into practice what has been taught in the conference.

In response to the message on marriage as God intended, forty one couples were wedded in the sight of God during the two conferences, nine  in Kiryandongo  and thirty two  in Apac. A cry for forgiveness by these couples who were living together and yet were not wedded in the sight of God was a real demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit.   A great sense of freedom came upon these couples after making vows to each other in the presence of God.  The forty one couples were presented with certificates on the following day after the wedding. The pastoral leadership in both towns agreed to follow the same example by wedding people in simplicity as demonstrated during the conference. If this practice of wedding people in simplicity is fully embraced, it will save churches and their congregations a lot money. An average church wedding in Uganda based on the current practice cost Ug. Shs. 10 million!  And because people cannot afford to raise the money, they end up living together not wedded.

  1. TESTIMONIES

On the day prior to the conference in Kiryandongo, the hotel chef came to Pastor Ernest and asked him if he could lead him in a prayer of repentance so that he becomes born again. This request was honored and this man gave his life to Jesus. He was handed over to the pastor in town for spiritual guidance and nourishment. Emmanuel one of the team members of ALIM received the baptism of the Holy Spirit while in the hotel.
One of the teachings in the conference was healing in the body of Christ. After the message, a prayer for healing was conducted and God touched many people who later testified of the healing hand of God upon their lives.

.

Holy Communion
The teaching on the sacrament of Holy Communion signified the importance of the church as one with a mission and purpose to bring glory to God. The cup signifies blood for the forgiveness of sins of all mankind and the bread represents the body of Jesus Christ; a symbol of health and wholeness for all believers. …. “By His stripes, we are healed”….Isaiah 53:4-5.
After the communion, the pastors and leaders were commissioned to go and serve the Lord with zeal, Knowledge and understanding, furthering the sacrament of communion till Jesus’s return.

APPRECIATION
Thanks to the Almighty God who enabled the ALIM team to be true to the calling to equip the church with the truth of the Word of God. All gratitude is ascribed to the Almighty God for enabling Pastor Ernest Howie and the ALIM team to make the conference a success along with the coordinating teams in Kiryandongo and Apac

.

Blessings to you all
